Please read this carefully before joining a walk or event.
1. What this group is.
Friendly Friday Hikes is an informal, peer-led social walking group. It is not a professional guide service. We do not provide guides, trail sweeps, first aid, medical personnel, supervision, or transportation. No organizer, host, or member is acting as a professional in any capacity.
2. You are responsible for yourself.
You are solely responsible for your own safety, fitness, footwear, gear, food, water, medication, navigation, and pace. You decide whether a trail and its conditions are appropriate for you. If you turn back early, you are responsible for getting yourself back to your vehicle.
3. Risks you accept.
Outdoor walking involves risks that cannot be eliminated, including uneven or slippery terrain, falls, heat, cold, dehydration, sun exposure, lightning, flooding, insects, snakes and other wildlife, poisonous plants, traffic, other people, lost or delayed emergency response, and the possibility of serious injury or death. You knowingly and voluntarily accept all of these risks.
4. Carpooling.
Any ride-sharing is a private arrangement between individual participants. Friendly Friday Hikes does not arrange transportation, vet drivers, check licenses or insurance, or take any responsibility for what happens in a private vehicle.
5. Release.
In exchange for being allowed to participate, you release and agree not to sue Friendly Friday Hikes, its organizers, hosts, volunteers, and other participants for any injury, illness, death, or property loss arising from your participation, including claims based on their ordinary negligence. This release does not cover gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
6. Medical.
You confirm you are physically able to participate, that you have consulted a physician if you have any doubt, and that you are responsible for your own medical insurance and costs. You authorize organizers to call emergency services on your behalf if needed, at your expense.
7. Agreement.
You are 18 or older, you have read this in full, and you are agreeing freely. If any part of this is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
